If you are missing one or more teeth, you are not alone. Statistics show that at least 69% of adults have lost at least one tooth to an accident, gum disease, a failed root canal or tooth decay. About 20% wear some type of removable denture and experience no problems. However, the majority have problems. Whether it’s difficulty with speech, the embarrassment of loose dentures, pain upon chewing or the loss of taste, for many living with missing teeth has just made their lives harder and less enjoyable. This can affect your health and even life span. For years, traditional dentistry’s answers to replacing missing teeth were bridges and removable dentures, however each of these has its own set of problems.
More recently, modern technology has offered us more options for tooth replacement, many incorporating dental implants. There are flippers,bridges, implants, implant anchored dentures, mini implants, fixed bridges, fixed hybrid dentures, etc., etc. With so many options available today how does one know where to go, who to trust or what to choose?
Here’s the good news- local dentist Dr. Gendler recognized not only the frustration of the many denture sufferers who came to them- but also their confusion. This led him to offer monthly informational seminar educating the community on all the replacement options available,and the advantages and disadvantages of each, so that people could make an informed and educated decision for themselves or their loved ones.
Today public demand has lead the Dr. to now offer the seminar once a month. These 60-90 minute seminars include multi-media presentations with educational videos and photos designed to teach all the latest state of the art dental solutions available today.
Some of the topics covered are: causes of bone loss, the domino effect, why losing teeth can make you look older, relation of dentures to heart disease and cancer, how dental implants work, why denture wearers have a shorter life span and much more. A lively Questions and Answer session follows, with Dr. Gendler available to answer questions ranging from general dentistry topics to your specific concerns. You’ll also have the added opportunity to meet in person and hear the real story of one of their actual implant patients.
